FAQs

I drive a larger vehicle. Why are the prices different?

For the most part, it all comes down to labor. In the car wash industry, labor alone generally comprises 50-60% of the cost of running the business. As such, any vehicle that takes longer to vacuum, wash & dry, or detail is naturally going to be charged a little extra. Larger vehicles also use more cleaning solutions and wash products as well.

Should I tip when picking up my vehicle?

Unlike tip-based industries like table servers, our workers are paid a fair salary for their work, and tipping is not required but appreciated. The best tip you can give us is to tell someone else about your experience.

What kind of chemicals or soaps do you use?

All of our soaps and cleaning products are ph balanced, acid or caustic-free, and are biodegradable. They are safe for your vehicle and for the environment.

Why shouldn’t I wash my vehicle at home?

Using a professional to wash your vehicle saves water, is “Greener” and saves you time. Read more on the Car Butler Green page

How often should I wash my vehicle?

Auto manufacturers recommend weekly or bi-weekly washing for best results. However, Houston’s acid rain, high pollution content, heavy bugs, and pollen require more frequent care.

The Tesla owners manual (page 118). says: “To prevent damage to the paint, immediately remove corrosive substances (bird droppings, tree resin, dead insects, tar spots, road salt, industrial fallout, etc). Do not wait until Model S is due for a complete wash.”

Is Car Butler touchless?

Do you wash your hands without rubbing them together? Do you wash your clothes without agitation? Do you keep your teeth clean by just gargling water and mouthwash, or do you brush them? Okay, you get the point! It is very difficult to get anything REALLY clean without contact – even with high pressure and harsh chemicals, like many “touchless washes”. That’s why we gently clean with soft wash mitts and microfiber cloths (no brushes) and pH-neutral, biodegradable soaps. While our wash mitts and microfiber cloths make contact with your vehicle, it is the best way to get it clean and will not scratch or dull your clear coat finish.
